About Linda Clayden

In 2005, Linda was one of just 15 people selected to take part in a pioneering study at Herts and Essex Hospital. The aim was to explore whether Reiki healing had genuine benefits beyond the placebo effect. Over a six-month programme, clients with a wide range of conditions—including back pain, anxiety, mental health challenges, cancer, and multiple sclerosis—received a course of six weekly Reiki sessions.
Each client’s progress was carefully recorded and fed into a computer system to ensure accurate assessment. After just three months, the results were so encouraging that they were formally analysed: an incredible 80% improvement in overall wellbeing was reported. The programme proved so successful that it continues to run more than 20 years later.
This experience led Linda to co-found Humming Birds at BS alongside the late Adrian Roberts, a cherished colleague. For over 12 years, she volunteered weekly, offering Reiki and support to people living with cancer. The group, supported by Macmillan and Helen Rollason charities, provided specialist training to help practitioners communicate with and care for clients with cancer. For Linda, this was one of the most rewarding and transformative periods of her career.
These experiences deeply shaped the way Linda now teaches and practices Reiki. They reinforced her belief that Reiki is a powerful and valuable form of healing for the mind, body, and spirit—but also that it works best when received regularly.
At Maysland Holistic Therapies, Linda continues to share her passion, experience, and dedication to helping others achieve balance, comfort, and wellbeing through Reiki and holistic care.
Linda is dyslexic with words and numbers but it has never stopped her career and it has helped many of her students learn with her own teaching style. A love of giving therapies and teaching has now spanned over 34 years. She lives in Hundon Suffolk with her dog and her disabled husband. A cabin is in her garden which is a cosy and private space for giving treatments and courses. It has air conditioning for heat in winter and for cooling down in summer so its always comfortable.
